With two domestic cups, Ligacupen and FA Cup, to bounce between together with the series, Chelsea has had a terribly tight game schedule lately and from the 0-0 cross over to Arsenal, the players have rested less than half a week. The result was disappointing, when the opponents benefit from the home team in the return.
Before that? 0-0 when Norwich was visited. And it followed another draw to Arsenal, then on the away side and in the Premier League. The hope is that the blue clad from London bounce back here.
Leicester sway a little and, as often, is difficult to get hold of. Fleetwood was visited just one week ago, then with a strong b-stressed starting line, and there only got 0-0, which means replay. Otherwise it has been up and down. On New Year’s Eve Huddersfield was broken with three goals against zero.
The big worry about the match is the injury situation for Leicester. Defense defenders Wes Morgan, Danny Simpson and Robert Huth are gone – huge breakdowns. This may mean that players like Daniel Amartey and Yohan Benalouane take place in the defense line. The big joy is that Jamie Vardy, who has been unsure, got the clearance to play.
For Chelsea, the injury list is completely empty, possibly apart from the new acquisition Ross Barkley.
Performs in the top games
The injury problem in the defensive positions is a worry, definitely – but Chelsea’s favorite team is still in extreme danger. We do not buy at all how the numbers look. Crazy odds!
Leicester thrives in the big games, against the toughest opponents. Let’s taste some of these figures:
Liverpool – Leicester: 2-1
Leicester – Manchester United: 2-2
Leicester – Manchester City: 1-1 (penalty loss)
Leicester – Tottenham: 2-1
These are the statistics of the matches against the absolute peak since the end of November. Now Leicester is further strengthened by a 3-0 win against Huddersfield, which came on New Year’s Day. The cup match against Fleetwood is of less relevance because it was rotated freshly.
Three straight crosses, Chelsea will play with and it was a regular starting line-up to Arsenal, 0-0. Already there we could see trends in tired legs – and heads?
Our Prediction: Leicester win @ 1.59
