Utah will face the Spurs on Portland before this match. Currently they are in a series of eight wins in a row. They play pretty well, but they are not yet in the top 8 of the Western Conference. Of course, the situation can change quickly as each team will still play at least 25 games, but they will probably have to fight hard until the end of the regular season. As expected, Jazz was active on the last day of the transitional period.
Since the beginning of the season rumors circulated that Hood (16.8 points) will go and that happened now. He was sent to Cleveland. In return, Utah brought Crowder and the former MVP, Rose, who was about to be fired (is likely to switch to the Wizards). In addition, veteran Johnson joined the Kings. Utah seems to be basing his game on rookie Mitchell (19.2 points and 3.4 rebounds and assists per match) and Center Gobert, while the Spaniard Rubio has been brilliant in the attack lately. In the duel against the Hornets, he suffered a minor injury, but should be in the match against the Spurs.
San Antonio Spurs
With 35 wins and 22 defeats on the account, the Spurs occupy third place in their conference. However, they were defeated in the two direct duels against Utah and although they have the best defense in the league (98.1 points per match), they have allowed the opponent to score 220 points overall in these two duels (Utah has the fourth best Defense this season). The Spurs are struggling with the injuries of their top players throughout the season. In the first duel they had to do without Gasol, Green and Ginobili, in the second match on Leonard and Gay (Utah player, Mitchell, also missing).
Both times, Hood and Rubio in particular caused them major problems, while the Spurs’ inside line was not up to par. Three of the last four matches have lost the Spurs. Before this guest appearance in Utah they were defeated by the Warriors 105: 122 and again missing the injured Leonard, Gay and Murray. Coach Popovic has been playing more often lately without the classic center player and most of the match he plays without the right “fives” on the floor.
Utah Jazz – San Antonio Spurs TIP
It’s important to say that the Spurs will be playing remotely through the end of February, so you’ll need to consider the exhaustion of the team. The jazz have twice celebrated against the Spurs this season and now they have better chances of winning as they have no problems with the failures like the Spurs.
Our Prediction: Utah Jazz win @ 1.90
