Struff – Ćorić – After winning the title in Basel, Federer has resigned from Masters in Paris, and profit from that was pulled by the 17th holder of L. Pouille who is now on the opposite side of the rivalry with Nadal. Since all the carriers are free in the first round, the next analysis will be devoted to two qualifiers, which is about Nijemc J.L. Struff and Croat B. Coric.
Struff showed his best tennis career so far this season and so at the beginning of the fifth month he reached his best rating when he became the 44th player of the world. Five months later, the Germans did not break much of that result as Paris came from 48th in the ATP ranking. In the last eight years of professional career Struff failed to win the ATP title or played in any of the ATP finals.
This year, Germans also played several Challengers, and when it comes to the ATP Tour, they had an identical number of wins and defeats 28:28. During this season, Struff finished the tournaments mainly until the third round of the competition, and made the first step in the Winston-Salem tournament, where he played semi-finals in which he was beaten by R. Bautista-Agu. He reached another semifinals on a recent tournament in St. Petersburg, where it was stopped by D. Dzumhura.
Ćorić certainly does not meet the expectations of the public as it is a very talented tennis player who almost can not find a man. However, the results do not justify this finding, and as one of the reasons for this we can state the fact that Ćorić is still not sufficiently mature in a sporting sense. It suffers tremendous oscillations during the game, and lacks calmness and focus after some missed points.
His best tennis player Ćorić played two years ago when he was the 33rd world player, and since then has made a drop of about 20 places at the ATP ranking. If it were not so black, Ćorić could remember this season for his first title at the tournament in Marrakech, where he reached the victory over Kohlschreiber in the final match after a breakthrough. The last performance at the Masters in Pariza Coric had a tournament in Basel, where he lost in the second round of his countryman M. Čilić.
Our Prediction: J.L. Struff win @ 1.67
