GETAFE – BETIS Today’s Soccer Prediction
Both Getafe and Betis won a victory on the last day before the break for the friendly matches of the nations. More difficult and unexpected was the success of Getafe 2-1 at Real Sociedad, at the end of a hard fought game, finished with ten warnings, seven of which were taken by Getafe players. Real Sociedad played better in the first half, but the Getafe had the merit and the luck to find the equalizer goal just before the interval. The 2-1 goal came in the second half, more thanks to a great play by Ángel Rodríguez than for a collective action. This victory allowed the Getafe of José Bordalás to reach the Eibar in ninth place in the standings, and to give salvation by now, a minimum goal in this first season after the promotion in La Liga. After all, Betis and Girona, considered by many to be the most surprising teams in the league together with Valencia, have only four points more than Getafe in the standings.
The bad news for the Getafe has come from medical assessments of injuries in recent days. During a training session last week the Argentinian midfielder Mauro Arambarri – the key holder for the tactical balance of Bordalás – left the field for a fracture to a foot. He had to work on everything last Monday, and he will miss the rest of the season. At this point it becomes even more urgent the full recovery of another midfielder, Markel Bergara, on loan from Real Sociedad. He is missing from the end of January because of a broken foot, but he should be ready to return.
Among the Betis players who have recently been summoned by their national team is Mexican midfielder Guardado, who played both against Iceland and Croatia. Riza Durmisi, a Danish defender of Macedonian origin, was summoned by Denmark but played only a modest half hour against Panama. Franco-Algerian defender Aissa Mandi played the full two games of Algeria against Tanzania and Iran.
As for the European Under-21 qualifiers, with the Spanish national team Fabian Ruiz played against both Northern Ireland and Estonia, where he also scored one of the three 3-1 victory goals. With the same national team did not play the wing Francis Guerrero, however, on his first call: due to a slight injury to his left leg, at the last moment, he had to give up. On the other hand should return the captain Joaquin, absent for muscle injury in the last two games.
